A few times along the way, the question has crossed my mind: "What have I gotten myself into?" Especially when I’ve been cold, soaking wet, and physically exhausted while scrubbing the cargo hold of a small dry cargo ship. So yes, there have been moments of doubt and longing for the warmth of an office. However, my overall feeling has been satisfaction with the decision I made. The maritime industry is truly fascinating – a versatile field that offers a great balance of hands-on work and theoretical knowledge.

The idea for the Mericrew service started to take shape during my sea captain training and work in the maritime industry. My previous education in business and experience in sales and HR also played a role in shaping the concept. I believe that getting employed in this great industry could be made easier for both sides – maritime employers and professionals seeking jobs in the field.
